THE SHROPSHIRE JAPANESE HEAD SPA – based in Shawbirch, Telford

Originating in Japan, head spa treatments include a scalp massage using pressure points to promote increased blood circulation to the scalp, along with deep conditioning, aromatherapy, hot towel/steam treatments and a luxurious waterfall shower.

The Head Spa session promotes hair growth, prevents hair loss, and maintains optimal scalp health by combining deep cleansing, nutrient-rich conditioning, and blood flow stimulation.

This holistic approach ensures that each follicle is nurtured, paving the way for stronger, more resilient hair growth.

During your head spa treatment, our specialist therapists will use essential oils, scalp scrubs, and deep conditioning masks to exfoliate the scalp, remove excess oils and debris, and hydrate the hair follicles. You can also expect a vigorous scalp massage to alleviate tension, increase stimulation, and relax the scalp muscles.

The Head Spa is suitable for all skin and hair types including if you have had cancer, are pregnant, have PCOS or are wanting to relieve anxiety. Ask our specialists today how we can help you.

JAPANESE HEAD SPA

The Process

1. Consultation: Microscopic scalp analysis, your chance to talk through any specific needs or wants and to discuss your optional extras with your therapist.

2. Signature Hair Blend: We begin the treatment by applying the chosen hair blend directly to your scalp and hair whilst your hair is dry. Hair bonds are repaired whilst scalp is stimulated.

3. Head Massage: The oil is then massaged into the scalp using traditional head massage techniques stimulating the follicles and blood flow.

4. Hair Spa Steam: This opens up the hair follicles and allowing the signature hair blend to penetrate deep into the hair and pores to enhance the treatment benefits.

5. Waterfall Shower: The waterfall shower is slowly raised over your hair and scalp to gently rinse the remaining oil through the hair.

6. Shampoo: Specifically chosen to suit the condition of your hair and scalp. This will gently cleanse / purify from root to ends.

7. Soap Massage: A shampoo scalp massage is effective in stimulating blood circulation, reducing stress and relaxing the body whilst deep cleansing the scalp and hair.

8. Hair and Scalp Mask: Tailored blend to nourish your hair. Your scalp is soothed and your hair is deeply hydrated while a healthy shine is restored.

9. Mask Massage: This not only promotes relaxation, but also stimulates blood circulation, making it easier for the nutrients from the mask to reach the scalp

At this stage, you then have the choice to finish your treatment by leaving the hair mask in (which you can rinse out at home up to 12 hours later) or you can continue with steps 11-13.

10. Oxygen Therapy: enhances hair follicle health, increases blood circulation and improves cellular metabolism. Concentrated oxygen stimulates hair growth, reduces inflammation and promotes a healthier scalp environment. It helps detoxify the scalp, removing impurities and promoting a balanced scalp pH which is essential for preventing hair loss and fostering strong, healthy hair growth. It also does all of this for the skin so double benefit!

11. Water Cleanse: Removing excess products leaving hair and scalp revitalised and residue free.

12. Hair Dry: Still lying down, we towel dry to remove any excess water before you leave. There is an option to add a blow dry on depending on which therapist you have booked with.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer a full consultation?

Yes, you will receive a consultation form to complete via email when you book online. On the day, we will talk you through the treatment and carry out a full scalp analysis using a state-of-the-art microscopic camera. Based on the analysis, the treatment and products used are tailored to you and your scalp.

How long does your Japanese Head Spa treatment usually last?

90 minutes for a thorough consultation and an in-depth cleansing spa. However, this is a tailored treatment so if you require less time for any reason, please speak to us and we can accommodate this for you.

I can't get an appointment because there is no availability?

We are currently experiencing an unprecedented demand for our Japanese Head Spa. Please contact us to be added to our waiting list.

Is your Japanese Head Spa suitable for all hair types?

Yes, it is suitable for all hair types from 1a to 4c. This includes straight, wavy, curly and textured hair.

Will the treatment damage my hair?

No, our Japanese Head Spa treatments are designed to promote hair health and scalp wellness without causing damage.

Can I have a Japanese Head Spa if I am bald?

Absolutely, your scalp health is just as important. A bald head is more weathered so needs just as much TLC. The treatment is not all about hair!

Do I need to prepare my hair in any specific way before the treatment?

It’s best to come with unwashed hair so we can analyse your scalp in its natural state.

Will the treatment address specific scalp issues like dandruff or dryness?

Yes, depending on your scalp’s needs, the treatment can target specific issues such as dandruff, dryness, oiliness, or sensitivity.

Is the treatment suitable for pregnant women or individuals with certain medical conditions?

Yes, although not in the first trimester. You will need to consult with your GP/consultant and Midwife prior to a thorough consultation with us as every pregnancy has different needs and complications.

Your appointment will be set differently so you will be sat up for your head massage and only lay down for your scalp exfoliation and hair cleanse. If you would like the full head spa experience then it is definitely a treatment you can prebook to look forward to once baby has arrived.

All medical conditions must be declared on your consultation form and you need to take advice from your GP prior to booking.

Will the treatment interfere with my hair colour or chemical treatments?

As an award-winning salon, we take into account any previous chemical treatments, hair colour, skin pigmentation procedures and medical conditions to tailor the experience accordingly, minimising any potential interference. All of our products are safe, vegan and free of unnecessary ingredients which may cause a negative effect on your hair and skin.

Is your Japanese Head Spa suitable for people with hair extensions?

Our treatments focus on scalp health and you would not receive the full benefit of the head spa if you have extensions in. You could however tailor a package to suit you. We can still cleanse your hair, stimulate blood flow, promote hair growth, offer our extras and shorten the procedure time if needed. However, we would recommend having a head spa when your extensions are out before being refitted to get the most from this fantastic service.

Will the treatment help with hair growth?

Improved blood flow delivers more nutrients and oxygen to your hair follicles which is crucial for hair growth and strength. The procedure reduces stress and with that working alongside our essential oils which are tailored to your needs, the Japanese Head Spa will encourage hair growth.

Do you use home remedies?

No, we only use high grade vegan products. We are all highly trained in our specialist field and as an advanced clinic built on hair, skin, and medical specialists, our focus is always what is best for our clients to get the results you deserve.

Do you offer customisable treatments based on individual needs?

Yes, our specialists can customise treatments to address specific concerns or preferences, ensuring you get the best out of your experience.

What can I expect after the treatment?

You may experience increased relaxation, improved scalp condition, and a sense of rejuvenation. You may find that you sleep better too.

What is Oxygen Therapy and how does it help my scalp?

Oxygen therapy normalises the skin’s pH value and fills the scalp with beneficial nutrients needed to successfully prepare the “soil” for the new hair bulbs. Oxygen improves circulation, stimulates collagen production, and is essential for a healthy and active scalp. The treatment focuses on the scalp’s mineral supply.

Can I wear makeup or styling products after the treatment?

It’s best to avoid applying heavy products immediately after the treatment to allow your scalp to fully absorb the benefits. Our specialists can provide guidance on post-treatment care.

How often should I get a Japanese Head Spa treatment?

It depends on your scalp condition and personal preferences. You may want to treat yourself twice a year, or once every 4–6 weeks is recommended for maintenance.

Do you offer Gift Vouchers?

Yes, we do. Feel free to pop in and see us – or click below to buy online.
